    The 500D has a larger sensor, so it should produce sharper images, and you have the interchangeable lenses of course. But the HF11 has auto focus, so it all depends on how you look at it. I think that the DSLR cameras give you greater creative options.

    I think that you're better off using a DSLR than a video camera to create that long of a time lapse.
