Houston’s own Tyagaraja is bringing his mixture of musical colors, poignant lyrics, and eclectic multi-cultural textures to Texas and beyond, and celebrating the release of the album entitled ‘Open Book’, recorded at Sugar Hill Studios. This past June, Tyagaraja introduced the album with two major performances: Free Press Summer Fest in Houston, Texas and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, TN. Winners of the Fiesta Movement Team Houston Battle of the Bands competition and the national competition, Tyagaraja was a featured artist at Bonnaroo, performing twice during the four day festival.

Tyagaraja creates a unique aural experience with powerful dynamics, creative layers, and a notably connective spirit that spans genres and inspires audiences. Tyagaraja has received 3 nominations for the Houston Press Music Awards including ‘Best LP/CD’ for ‘Open Book’, ‘Best Progressive Rock’, and ‘Best Keyboards’. Listen to music here. After the release of the album Tyagraaja left for his 3rd pilgrimage in India. During this time Tyaga actually performed in the city of Pune, and gave a lecture at a music school. India Journals He spent many days and hours in ashrams, temples sacred places of India, studying and performing intense meditation. Tyagaraja returned with a renewed spirit sure to be reflected in performances planned in Austin, Dallas, Houston, LA, Sacramento, Ashville NC, and beyond.
