Founded in Toronto in 2010 by photographer Rob Stewart as a response to his award-winning movie Sharkwater, United Conservationists, Inc. (UC) is a registered US non-profit dedicated to creating media that inspires, educates and encourages action to protect the ecosystems we depend on for survival.

Based out of Toronto and Santa Monica, United Conservationists was inspired by the overwhelming reaction to the movie Sharkwater, as people around the world rallied around sharks that resulted in the creation of dozens of NGOs, lobbying governments and policy changes all over the world that caused a massive change toward the treatment of sharks. UC is dedicated to building on this success and achieving broader, more aggressive goals through the use of media, online communities, empowering tools, tangible action plans and youth engagement. By enabling and inspiring people around the world, United Conservationists strive to take real, meaningful action to organize in the fight to protect the environment.
