Welcome to our Premier Video Channel.
The Uniting Church is known as the Church that is uncompromising in its commitment to justice, inclusion, and advocacy on issues that affect the future of our planet and those at the margins. Through the Relief and Development Unit of UnitingWorld, these very same commitments shape the work we undertake overseas.
We stand with those who are at the margins through sustainable development initiatives and in seeking to change the very systems that in many cases embed the cycle of poverty.
We are intentional in working with our overseas partner in seeking to enhance their capacity to respond effectively to the issues of injustice, poverty and conflict within the communities in which they live.
The Relief and Development unit of UnitingWorld is fully accredited with AusAID, the Australian government agency for international development. It is also a signatory to the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct. Both these guidelines ensure that we meet the highest standards in financial reporting, transparency, management and ethical practice.
Local communities are involved in decision-making, planning and implementation of our projects to ensure maximum impact. We are also committed to gender equity, operating on need and not on religious or other grounds, environmental sustainability and value for money.
Vital programs work to empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty and are connected to the Millennium Development Goals which aims to halve global poverty by 2015. Our core programs include water and sanitation, economic empowerment & livelihood, education & vocational training, health & nutrition, peacemaking & emergency relief.
