Three Creative Commons Case Studiesthe interesting thing for me has been people will use my open source objects/hardware. . they will install them, document them, use them 'word for word', credit themselves with the project and the problem lays much more, for me, in getting any sort of credit in return for the usage (even in the form of code comments or a small 8 point font on the website linking back for credit for hardware fabrication) ..
i suppose because it undermines other studios/artist/etc credibility as being 'original' ... ? or makes them look like they are just outsourcing .. ? I haven't been able to figure out why it rarely comes back full circle..
the problem with the lack of credit for me isn't money or fame (which would be nice but not expected).. its how not crediting a 'free' project harms the growth and exposure of the project to others who could use it/benefit from the open-aspect and ultimately it stunts the growth or stops it completely.. .
not sure that makes sense, i need food. -
