Yes, 1080p is not very good, there is some issues with the ContourHD mounting system, which I hope to alleviate with a new system I am going to try out shortly. I think at 1080p the GoPro HD HERO seems to be better in regards to the rolling shutter shakes. Smoother terrain is much nicer, this stuff is brutal tough and obviously bumpy!
How many sports specific CCD's are there for $300? I think if you made one it would be around $1000 at min? And it would also be quite large?
