About my movies:
“I often use my strong social indignation when I create movies. With very few exceptions, then my works originate in the same basic idea, namely being that the world of today is not as it should be.
One of the things that constantly inspires me is the anarchistic mantra: "Any one who has power will sooner or later abuse that power."
I have numerous personal experiences of the abuse of power. Sometimes I have been on the receiving end and sometimes I have been the perpetrator and it has affected persons around me. But by far the biggest portion of my inspiration comes from watching everyday situation in my surroundings.
Not least Greenland and the years that I lived there have forever marked me. No place else in the world can one find such beauty combined with such massive social problems. It is a country where you cannot find neither easy nor fast solutions and where placing the guilt for all those problems in paradise can you a severe headache. This is since the problems often have roots that go way back in history.
But for me it has been a source of inspiration in my work and a place where I find many stories coming to life amidst the beauty of the landscape and the complexity of the people living there.
I have been known for using the more 'simple' media when shooting movies, such as handycam, Super 8 and 16mm. For me they convey a world that is not all too clear and they create disturbed images. All this is in accordance with my movies and the places and people that I portray.
