Gogo Yuan (born Yuan Chen Hsi; Oct, 1989) is a Chinese singer－songwriter who will be rising sharply in the new generation of Taiwan society. His early words incorporated a variety of political, social and philosophical, as well as literary influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed hugely to the then burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the songs of Dylan, Lennon, and the performance styles of David Bowie and Jerry Lee Louis, Gogo has both amplified and personalized musical genres, exploring numerous distinct traditions in pop song— even Chinese music and modern music.
Gogo Yuan currently devotes himself to Cultural Studies in Taiwan, and enthusiastically continues in subjects of gender/sexuality, race, class and audio/visual media.
