GP's and the NHS need to learn that medication alone isn't just the answer. More often than not, people who are put on medication remain on medication for a long, long time... if not, for years costing lots of money. GP's need to be trained properly and that 10 mins with a patient who needs mental health support won't work. Treatment needs to be flexible, diverse and available.
Integrated health care? This will only be good if the NHS work with therapists. The highest intention is to get the person well and for the person to take control back in their lives. Yes it does need innovation, so be creative. The NHS needs to educate their mental health workers too, because I've had feedback from NHS mental health patients and it's frightening how poor it is.
