This course is designed to research and discuss the growing world of art and technology, while teaching students basic film composition and editing concepts, as they pertain to dance and multi-media performance. The goal is to enable students with knowledge and skills of affordable technology they may already have access to, and help them produce and show work not just in the theater but also on the ever-growing digital stage.
(Students will create their own digital stages via YouTube and Vimeo and will be responsible for posting all assignments online.)
This course will introduce students to HD camera technology and current video editing software such as iMovie, Movie Maker, Final Cut and Isadora. Students will learn basic cinematography and editing techniques that they will display through video work posted online via YouTube and Vimeo. Through learning these techniques and skills students will gain a greater understanding of how to publish and create work on the vast digital stage taking over modern audiences, businesses and employers.
