John Virtue is a Guinean-born Canadian filmmaker who is currently based in Toronto. He is a graduate of Upper Canada College, and received a Political Science degree from Western University. While a student at WU, John was involved with the independent campus radio station, CHRW, where he worked as Production Director for 3 years. He was responsible for highlighting a thriving musical culture and for the production of several audio dramas. He’s influenced by past European film movements, including, but not limited to: Italian Neorealism, Surrealism, the French New Wave, and German Expressionism.
John believes that cinema, at its best, has a specific point of view, has an opinion, an auteur, and should be a reflection of the auteur’s desires.
