I am Professor and Chair of English Department at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC (near Charlotte). My field of specialty is Victorian Literature. I am also the author of four books: Austen's Emma (Continuum, 2009), Puzzling the Reader: Riddles in Nineteenth-Century British Literature (Peter Lang, 2008), the Penguin Classics edition of Anthony Trollope's Phineas Redux (Penguin USA, Penguin UK 2003) and Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles (Continuum 2010).
My current book project is: Finding Hannah: The True Story of The Bondwoman's Narrative by Hannah Crafts.
My wife, Christy Geiger, and I are parents to Beatrice (5) and to her little sister, Elsie (3).
