I am the artist formerly and currently known as Anthony Cavins. It’s very possible I will also be known by that name in the future. I’m an Aquarius and enjoy long walks on the beach. On an unrelated note, I attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and acquired an Art degree.
I am primarily a painter now, although I actually co-owned a photography company for a while, I work as a graphic/web designer, and I discovered I’m not too shabby with an air chisel and a rock.
I had a show recently at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment entitled “To Finite & Beyond.” The show consisted of art from my “Space Age” series that uses a retro future theme to speak on earthling interactions. An inside joke/gift for an excellent friend about seahorses spawned my aquatic series in which I toy with compositions and the expanse of the sea. A metaphor, the human cosmic interaction, a way to channel my own heritage; all statements I would never use to describe my “Adoration” series. Adoration is an exploration of color and emotions for me, many people find it meditative, spiritual, reverent . . . . and I nod.
I pull a lot of inspiration from music, lyrics, human interaction, questioning people’s motivations, relationships, and being a father. My motivation is the constant feeling that I am here to create and if I’m not I’m wasting my life.
My goal with my art is to say something in a world filled with nonsensical ramblings. I also want to show other people that they can follow their dreams and be who they are meant to be.
