In mid-2005, Ervine Lin left the world of architecture to pursue alternative career prospects. Half a year later and after much tribulation StudioV Photography & Design was formed with him at the helm as Creative Director, Chief Photographer, Lead Designer and Official Toilet Cleaner (all hats which he still wears till this day).

Professionally, the studio focuses on commercial work especially in the areas of product, interior and architectural photography. Within this short time span it has already chalked up a reputable clientele ranging from multinational companies to magicians.

In 2008, Ervine Lin joined the ranks of the Professional Photographers Association (Singapore) thereby further affirming his career as a full time photographer.

Personally, Ervine loves photographing spaces and places (and oddly, bicycles). He travels as often as possible to see for himself beauty the world offers and captures this beauty with his camera. His images have already graced the covers of inflight and travel magazines.

Following his childhood ambition to become an artist, he began compiling photographs taken during these overseas stints into a personal collection. Ervine Lin Photography was the result of this.

Ervine’s work can be broadly classified into travel, landscape & urbanscape photography. Although to place them in only one of these categories alone would be an inaccurate portrayal.

With his training in architecture, he often creates photographs with very structured compositions that have an allure of weight and silence. Some have even gone so far as to describe his photographs as “architectural” although the subject nature is seldom architecture proper.

Personally, Ervine has an inclination towards high contrast, high saturation photographs and seldom makes use of negative space, preferring to fill the frame as much as possible. It is also in his nature never to have people as the main subject although their presence is often included.
