Michael Markowsky is Vancouver-based artist whose practice combines painting and performance, and has exhibited extensively across the United States and Canada. In 2002, he received his MFA in Painting from Art Center (Los Angeles).
Markowsky’s artwork is often featured on television and in print media, including NBC, CBC, CTV, GlobalTV, Globe and Mail, etc.
Typically he makes drawings and paintings while riding inside or on top of moving cars, buses, boats, trains, airplanes and even dog-sleighs! The process involved in making these artworks are documented with video and often displayed alongside the finished paintings.
In July 2013 Markowsky became the first artist to create art at supersonic speeds. He created 100 drawings while flying in a CF-18 Hornet fighter jet plane, as part of the ‘War Artist’ program. Markowsky also traveled to the North Pole in 2012 with the R.C.A.F., where he spent two weeks making ‘plein-air’ landscape paintings, outside in the -35oC Arctic weather!
Michael Markowsky does not have any videos yet.
