So there was this school prom back in '09 (or '08?). Theo (drums/backing vocals) came up with this one-shot idea of teaming up with Jaz (guitar/vocals) for just one song (Kaminari Today by The Birthdays). They needed a guy who plays the bass and with luck, they found Alley (bass/backing vocals). So he joined in, did the quick show and they really thought that was gonna be it, and no more.
2 years later, having too much time and too little to do, the three musketeers decided to revive the band (after much inspiration as well). And this time, sh*t got serious. They made it a long term plan and stuck with it.
The name of the band originated from the variables "P.S.". At that time, the boys were in form 6 and the best time they ever had was during "Personal Studies" period (because no actual studying was done but a lot of slacking off instead). After much thought, P.S. now stands for "Perfect Scums". 'Scums', inspired by how they were part of those kids people would not talk to because they were too nerdy and such (basically they were losers and they sucked), and 'Perfect', because they were naturally good at it. Thus, the name Perfect Scums were born.
After a few line-up changes between drummers and second guitarists, they got Afiq, who happens to be pretty good at the guitar and was right under their noses all along (because he's been in the same school with them since they were children up to form 6 and they still have no idea how he didn't pop up in their heads the first time the trio decided to turn the band into a quartet).
So the line-up stuck as so: Theo, Alley, Afiq and Jaz.
For commercial purposes and some necessary media control here and there (I mean c'mon), Perfect Scums are also known as simply P.S. (sometimes Post Statement or Personal Statement for fun). But the name Perfect Scums will always remain as the band's real name to honor every underdog there is.
