There is a more smart way: 1. If you have a video footage: Render the movie as an image sequence, there is a setting called time step or something like this where you can specify at what interval a sample frame shall be taken and exported as a separate image 2. Use the import media option and choose the open still image sequence option. On the dialog specify the frame rate and you are ready. No re-rendering ... although there is a way to re-render the video practically lossless ... but i do not see the value of this when you can use the work-flow i have given in 1 and 2 :)
