ALEXIS SORIANO

A pupil of Ilya Musin, and after of Valery Gergiev, he has been Principal Associated conductor of The Hermitage Orchestra during ten years and is currently Artistic Director of The Festival “Spanish Evenings” in Saint Petersburg.
In 2003 he was chosen among candidates from the whole world to conduct in the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam and take part in the film about conducting, “The Master and his pupil”.
Short after, he was invited by Gergiev to work at The Mariinsky Opera Theater, where he has made his debut conducting Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro”.
He has conducted also at The Teatro Real (Madrid), Palau de Valencia, Rimsky Korsakov Theater, Sankt Peterburg Opera, Hermitage Theater of Saint Petersburg, Operas like “Faust” (Gounod), “The Marriage of Figaro”(Mozart), “Boris Godunov” (Mussorgsky), “Eugene Oneguin”( Tchaikovsky), “Falstaff” (Verdi), “Glaura y Cariolano” (Lidon), “La Scala di Seta” (Rossini), “L’Arbore di Diana” (Martin y Soler),”Bastian und Bastienne” (Mozart).
As a Symphonic conductor, he worked with St.Petersburg Symphony, Prague Symphony, English Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Oulu Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of The Mariinsky Theater, Moscow Virtuosi, Hermitage Orchestra, Danubia Zenekar from Hungary, National Symphony of Macedonia, Saint Cristophorus of Vilnius, Kaunas Symphony, Regionale del Lazio, among others, as well as the majority of Spanish Orchestras.
His repertoire includes also contemporary music, specially Spanish, having recorded works of important composers as well as the first recording of The Opera by Jose Lidon from 1792, “Glaura y Cariolano”.
Since 2009 he is Artistic Director and musical conductor of “Opera Incognita” of Saint Petersburg which is a stable Chamber Opera company. The first Opera fully staged at The Hermitage Theater he conducted was “The letters of Van Gogh” by Grigory Frid, with a very big success.
Next engagements include Mariinsky Theater, Teatro Comunale di Grosseto, Teatro Liceo (Barcelona), St.Petersburg Philharmonic, Slovakian Philarmonic, Sinfonia Iuventas (Warsaw), Lithuanian National Symphony and others.
