Rachel Garfield has exhibited in the UK and the USA. Recent group exhibitions include, “I’m Keeping An Eye On You” Aqua Art Miami, Dec ‘08 (curated by John Spiak of ASU Museum), “Just World Order” Artsway, UK, Aug ’08 (curated by Peter Bonnell). Her artwork has featured in Blackwells Companion to Contemporary Art since 1945, ed. Amelia Jones (2006); The Undecidability of Difference: The Work of Rachel Garfield, Amelia Jones (2006) and Unframed: The Practices and Politics of Women Painting, IB Tauris Ltd, (2003). Screenings include, Wisconsin Jewish Film Festival, Detroit Museum of New Art, Spark Contemporary Art Space, Syracuse, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London, faprojects, London

Garfield has published critical writings and reviews in Third Text, The Journal of Media Practice, everything magazine, Art History and the Jewish Quarterly. A few examples of recent published texts are, ‘Radical Uncertainty and Elegaic Practices’ Aftershock: Conflict and Resolution in Contemporary Art, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts; commissioned texts for Keith Piper in luxonline and Zineb Sedira for the Centre Pompidou, Paris, Museum Ludwig (Koln, Germany) and the "Centre pour l'image contemporaine", Geneva, Switzerland. Garfield has been commission to write several texts on mid Twentieth Century painters such as ‘Questioning Perceptions of Jewish Identity in the work of Ary Stillman’,chapter monograph, Ary Stillman: From Impressionism to Abstract Expressionism, (ed) James Wechsler, Wechsler, James (ed), Merrell, NY, 2008, pp149 – 163; the exhibition catalogue for Avinash Chandra (1931-1991) and a chapter on mid twentieth century painters for The Whole Story (ed) Rasheed Araeen.
