  I don't know - I suppose there are ways to avoid camera-fubarage, but the dust is so pervasive - and especially if you get caught in multiple storms like I did - I don't see how. I suspect this year we will have had more winter precipitation on the playa, so there may be less dust - last year was spectacularly windy and dusty!

  yeah, you will not escape dust behind your lens - you can see the results briefly in vimeo.com/351048 - when the sun shines on the lens during the bus ride - also in a few of Mark Day's vimeo posts as well.
  
  the camera still works fine, but I have no idea how to clean the inside of the lenses - I'd recommend bringing a camera you don't mind getting a bit dusty - or you could try ziplocking it like a friend of mine did, but that's a pain in the ass and you'll still worry.
