Short Film Night
Los Angeles
Hello...my name is Michael McCarthy. I am the Director of Entertainment for the legendary El Cid Dinner Theater in the Silverlake area of Los Angeles.

Beginning in January 2009 I started a monthly Short Film Night at El Cid.

I joined Vimeo to view short films and connect with L.A. based short filmmakers.

Feel free to message me if any of you are interested in this event. Maybe we'll be viewing some of your pieces on our stage in the near future!

El Cid Legacy

El Cid was built around 1900 by D.W. Griffith. It was used to screen his controversial and famous movie “Birth of a Nation”, which opened in 1915 and was the first twelve reel motion picture to set an all time box office record. For 11 years it was viewed by more than 100 million Americans at the high ticket price of $2.00!

Late in 1950 the building was converted into a mini-theater and cabaret called the “Cabaret Concert Theater”. It became famous as a hang out for many well known actors and actresses.

In 1961 El Cid Restaurant was born, and the building was converted into an authentic replica of a 16th century Spanish tavern which has featured the finest Flamenco dancers, singers and guitarists for the past 50 years.

With a history of great entertainment and a new variety of late night and dinner shows to choose from, El Cid is known as a landmark of Hollywood.

Sorry, Short Film Night doesn't have any videos yet.
