Jeremy Blair is a choreographer, performer and educator. Formerly a company member with Thodos Dance Chicago from 2007 - 2012, he has also been a guest artist with Lucky Plush Productions, Chicago Moving Company, Khecari, Aerial Dance Chicago and Friches Theatre Urbain in Paris. He has toured and performed works by Bob Fosse, Ann Reinking, Lar Lubovitch, Ron de Jesus, Harrison McEldowny, Jennifer Muller, Brian Enos and others. In 2012 he left Chicago to pursue his M.F.A. in dance at the University of Iowa, where he is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant. His current choreographic research explores the performance of identity and the enactment of socially constructed behaviors. He takes a collaborative approach to choreography inviting artists from multiple media into the process.
Performance experience informs his teaching ethos in which he encourages dancers to explore habituation in an effort to become versatile and malleable performers. He takes an interdisciplinary approach to teaching incorporating yoga and pilates into a contemporary dance technique class. He has offered master classes at The University of Wisconson - Whitewater, Davidson College, National University of Mongolia, Millikin University and others. He is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga instructor (2008) and in 2013 completed his 500-hour Hatha certification in Rishikesh, India.
