Two documentary filmmakers set out to expose a prolific anti-graffiti vigilante vandal who spray-paints silver blobs over existing graffiti. Through trial and error, the filmmakers hone their amateur surveillance skills and eventually identify and confront their target. The film then ventures deeper into questions over the legitimacy and motivations of graffiti and anti-graffiti, with perspectives from both sides and examples of three other well-known anti-graffiti vigilantes across the US.

Jim Sharp, a 62-year-old Berkeley resident has been a vigilante for over 15 years, fighting what he sees as visual noise and blight. Sharp wakes up at 5 or 6am almost every day to go out and tear down any posted bills he can find. If you put up a poster, he will take it down within a day or two and he's been doing this for over 15 years. Sharp is the subject, along with 3 other anti-graffiti vigilantes, of our upcoming feature documentary, "Vigilante Vigilante."

Steel Reserve: Reservation for Two (1999)

This was one of the first videos I ever made. It was an assignment for a video class in college--compress half an hour of action down to one minute. Drinking a 40 oz of Steel Reserve 211 High Gravity Lager (8.1% alcohol) is quite a feat. This is the homeless persons beer of choice. It's cheap and it gets you fucked up, but it takes a serious toll on your mind and body. Thanks to Dennis and Chris for hanging in there. Those 40s were just the beginning a mind-bending trek. We definitely dialed in to the mainframe that day.
