Roz Owen is an award winning director and writer who works in both drama and documentary. In 2006 Roz received the Kodak New Vision Award for her feature script CLOSE BEFORE STRIKING. All three of her dramatic scripts have been optioned. YOU LOVE ME I HATE YOU received both Genie and Golden Sheath nominations for best short drama. It had its world premiere at The Locarno International Festival in Switzerland and its Canadian premiere at TIFF followed by numerous international festivals and broadcast licenses. An earlier drama A LOVE OF CONTRADICTION also premiered at TIFF. In 1994 Roz completed a year-long Director Residency at The Canadian Film Centre — a program set up by Norman Jewison.
In 2006 Roz formed anti-amnesiac productions with her partner Jim Miller. They both produce and write, Roz is director and Jim is editor. In September 2008 their short doc, COMMUNITY MATTERS won the OAAG Visual Art Film Award. PORTRAIT OF RESISTANCE, their first feature doc. will be released in the fall of 2011. Presently Roz is working towards production of her Canadian British feature co-production LOOK BOTH WAYS.
