When I bought my Zi8 I immediately compared it to my 3GS -- no comparison. The Zi8 is significantly better in all respects, as it should be. The iPhone is in the "better than nothing" category and it's convenient since I always have it with me. The Zi8 however is an excellent camcorder for the price and size. It's easy to slip in my other front pocket (that the iPhone isn't occupying,) so carrying it isn't a big deal at all. Just don't expect much from either one in low light -- they both suck. :-)
