To Albert Krauss: Circumcision for the male is practiced in Islam as part of the Abraham covenant. Female circumcision is considered mutilation of the body and is a sin under Islamic teaching.
So the information posted by AnitaHotty is misinformed and may be due to individuals who undertake this act through misunderstanding and inaccurate beleif of Islam and actually inherited it from their culture from their area. and this point can be backed by Islamic scriptures as nowhere does it advise for FEMALE genital circumcision and there are plenty of references AGAINSt body mutilation
