to render the splines only clip, all you have to do is import all your roto shapes individually into seperate roto-shapes. Then just use an edge detect and layer them all together again. You know what, I dont think I even thought about the sun direction for the shadow... how silly! I'll sort that out and yeah i agree the colour correction could be improved. The roto took me about a week, but the comp only took an hour or so. Thanks for the comment though :)
