Tandis Jenhudson’s most recent score was for the 2014 BAFTA-nominated documentary ‘The March’ narrated by Denzel Washington and produced by Robert Redford. This PBS/BBC documentary recounts the events leading to the 1963 March on Washington, culminating in Martin Luther King’s famous “I have a Dream” speech. It is directed by John Akomfrah OBE and features interviews with Harry Belafonte, Oprah Winfrey and Diahann Carroll among others, showing rare archive footage of performances from artists such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.
Tandis entered the world of music and film via a somewhat unorthodox route. Although he initially trained as a classical pianist, he went on to study Medicine at University College London (UCL) graduating in 2004 and later specialising in Psychiatry. It was during his time at UCL that a chance encounter led to him scoring his first of many films. He has since gone on to score numerous award-winning films, including the BAFTA-nominated Love You Joseff Hughes. He also produces music for adverts, documentaries, television, trailers and the stage.
Tandis also recently scored the acclaimed feature film ‘Shadows of Liberty’ directed by Jean-Philippe Tremblay. Produced by DocFactory and The Bertha Foundation, this documentary explores America’s “corporate-controlled” media. Nominated as the Most Valuable Documentary at the 2013 Cinema for Peace Gala in Berlin, it also received official selection in film festivals worldwide including IDFA, HotDocs and Sheffield DocFest. It reveals stories from renowned journalists, activists and academics including Dan Rather, David Simon, Julian Assange, Danny Glover, Amy Goodman, Daniel Ellsberg and Roberta Baskin. It is due for a worldwide release later this year.
In 2012 Tandis scored ‘Little Stars of Bethlehem’. Narrated by Stephen Fry, it is a light-hearted playful feature that captures the events of an infant school during the Christmas holiday season. It was selected for the Breakthrough Strand of London UK Film Focus and will receive it’s UK television premiere this year.
In addition to commissioned projects, Tandis also writes and remixes music spanning multiple genres from pop and electronic to classical and jazz, frequently collaborating with other artists.
Tandis is published by Music Sales / Eaton Music.
