David Moreu (Barcelona, 1982) has a degree in Mass Media from the UAB (Autonoma University of Barcelona) and he did a postgraduate in cinema script at the ESCAC (Audiovisuals and Cinema School of Catalonia). In the last six years, he has worked as a documentary and TV serials producer for ALEA docs & films (aleadf.com) and La Fábrica de la Tele, he has written scripts for RBA, National Geographic and also collaborates as a freelancing journalist for some major Spanish magazines (Esquire, Rolling Stone, Lonely Planet, NOX, EME, Soul Nation, Lamono, Visual, Calle 20, Hip Hop Nation and El Periódico ). Since 2011 he is chief editor of Staf Magazine, an on-line publication about surfing and pop culture.
In 2009 he made his debut as a filmmaker with "Down To Earth", a short-film documentary about the magical relationship that existed between soul music and the civil rights movement in the U.S. during the 60's. The film has won the best documentary prize at the Baumann Film Festival 2009 and it has also been screened in festivals such as MECAL 2009, CINESTRAT 2009, VISUAL 2010 and Black Music & Films 2009.
in 2014 he published the book "From a Whisper to a Scream", an oral history of soul music with 37 in-depth interviews with legendary artists and musicians.
