David Lea – Writer/Director/sfx Artist
David Lea grew up on the south westerly tip of Cornwall, where he spent most of his time working in his dads art studio or at the open air Minack Theatre, where his interest in story telling began. Later he trained as an animator at the Welsh International Film School.
He first won acclaim in 2002 with Half Life, an environmental film for Greenpeace (co-directed with John Williams) won Best Young Director and overall Jury awards at the Cannes CPE/F Festival.
He has directed music videos for Emiliana Torrini (Heartstopper - winner of the audience award at –ITFS - Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart 2006) and the Offspring (Hit That- best music video, Sigraf 2004) amongst others.
More recently David completed his first live action short staring Tom Hughes (Cemetery Junction, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,Page Eight) which had its premiere at Venice international film festival (other festivals include: Rain Dance, London short film festive, Walsall international film festival, Interfilm Berlin…).
David has expertise in live action, animation and art direction - And continues to fill notebooks with scribbled ideas, stories and drawings - whilst creating more short films and developing feature film ideas.
