Andrew Gillingham is a passionate filmmaker and actor living in Vancouver, BC. Having recently completed his BFA in Film Production at Simon Fraser University, Andrew is currently making the leap toward independent filmmaking, hoping to make his first narrative feature film by 2015. He thrives on the energy of his fellow filmmakers and actors and believes that urgency and honesty fuel the fire of any creative endeavour.
Awards & Recognition
-Won the Best Short Narrative award at the 2007 Youth by Youth Cinema Competition at the Calgary International Film Festival for the short comedy, "Mr. Postman"
-Official Selection of the 100 Dollar Film Festival in 2009 for experimental short, "Immortalis"
-Portrayed the lead man in "No Words Came Down" (a short film by Ryan Flowers) that was runner-up for Best Canadian Short at the 2011 Toronto Int'l Film Festival and went on to be selected as one of Canada's Top Ten Short Films of 2011
-Official Selection of the 2012 Montreal Student Film Festival for the short drama, "Blue Moves"
-Co-wrote and co-directed "Plating" (a short film by Jon Thomas) which won Best Student Shortwork at the 2012 Whistler Film Festival and went on to be nominated for four Leo nominations including Best Direction and Best Short Film, at the 2013 Leo Awards
