Cassandra Tytler
Cassandra Tytler works across installation and single-channel modes of practice. Her work explores contemporary cultural iconography, idealized reality and realized fantasy. Fascinated by the symbolism of popular clichés, Tytler employs experimental script writing processes that pastiche isolated, fragmented conventions into compelling, revealing stories. Her work focuses on reinventing and re-playing identities through performance, and what this reveals about our cultural longings. Her films have screened in numerous festivals in Australia, the U.S.A., Korea, and Europe, and she has exhibited work in a number of galleries such as A.R.A.C., Paris, Harold Golen Gallery, Miami, Metro Arts, Brisbane, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne, Plimsol Gallery, Tasmania, and Westspace Gallery, Melbourne. Tytler completed her Masters degree in Media Arts at R.M.I.T., Melbourne, Australia in 2003. She is based in Paris. cassandratytler.com
