GERARD & KELLY: Brennan Gerard and Ryan Kelly graduated from the Whitney Independent Study Program in 2010, and received their MFAs from the Interdisciplinary Studio program at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2013. Gerard received a BA from Yale University in 2001, and Kelly was a dancer with New York City Ballet, receiving a BA from Fordham University in 2008. They currently live and work in Los Angeles, CA.
Their first solo exhibition, Kiss Solo, was held at Kate Werble Gallery, New York, NY, in Spring 2013. They will present a performance at the gallery in November 2013, and have an upcoming solo exhibition at The Kitchen, New York, NY, in Spring 2014.
Gerard & Kelly have recently been included in exhibitions at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Los Angeles, CA (2013); CCS Bard, Center for Curatorial Studies and Hessel Museum of Art, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY (2012); University Art Gallery, UC Irvine, Irvine, CA (2011); and Art in General, New York, NY (2010). They have performed at numerous venues, including The Kitchen, New York, NY; The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; Park Avenue Armory, New York, NY; Renaissance Society, Chicago, IL; Maastricht Toneelstad Festival, Maastricht, NL; Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Project Space, New York, NY; and Jacob’s Pillow, Becket, MA.
Their work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Village Voice, among other publications. Fellowships and residencies include: Park Avenue Armory Artists-in-Residence, New York, NY (2008-2010), Watermill Center Residency Program, Southampton, NY (2006); and the Van Lier Fellowship, Whitney Independent Study Program (2010). Additionally, Brennan Gerard was a recipient of the 2004-2005 Fulbright Fellowship. Gerard and Kelly are the founders and co-directors of Moving Theater.
