Robert "Bob" Gordon
Joined January 2010
Robert E. Gordon (“Bob”) has been an Entertainment Lawyer in California since 1960, first in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, and since 1972 in the San Francisco Bay Area. His primary interest has been in all phases of the music industry, including representation of record companies, music publishers, managers and agents, and various performing and recording artists, including many “superstars.” His clients over the years include A&M Records, the Kingston Trio, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, The Doobie Brothers, Van Morrison, Bobby Darin and the Kronos Quartet.
Bob has been playing the ukulele for many years with the San Rafael “UFO’s” (Ukulele Friends Ohana). He also has a long history of singing with choral groups. While attending UCLA in the 1950s, he sang in a vocal quartet in competition at the Hollywood Bowl and has been a baritone with the prestigious SINGERSMARIN, a Marin County based choral group, for about 10 years. Until recently, Bob had not given any thought to performing solo before the public.
He recently was selected to play ukulele in the rhythm section of the About Records/Universal national release of an album for LARKIN GAYL, a Bay Area recording artist, and recently recorded for the LISA STAR/RAY COOPER CD Project. He also performed the Beatle’s song I WILL as a guest artist at a local church and was surprised at the enthusiastic response of the audience. It was then that Bob decided to put an act together to become a performer in addition to being an internationally well-known and respected lawyer in the music world.
Bob’s “act” is a combination of storytelling and music. He relates true and amusing incidents which he has experienced with celebrities, both clients and others, over the course of his long career, each story followed by playing the ukulele and singing a song which ties in to the particular story.
Bob’s first gig was as a solo opening act in April 2009 at the 142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley, CA. He opened for one of his clients, RAMANA VIEIRA, a Portuguese “Fado” singer, and was very well received. (Check out the link: (bobgordonandhisallstarreview.com ) which is an edited version of Bob’s Throckmorton Theatre performance.)
A member of the infamous Bohemian Club was present and thought Bob’s act would be well received as entertainment at the Bohemian Grove’s annual Encampment in July. Bob presented his act at the Grove and received rave reviews. He also performed on a Royal Caribbean cruise with great response and received a standing ovation for his recent performances at the Concordia-Argonaut Men’s Club in San Francisco.
Bob’s enthusiasm and passion in his performances are captivating and make for a delightful and unique entertainment experience. If you have an opportunity to see Bob in action, don’t miss it!
