Bess Auer

A lover of girlfriend get-aways, Bess Auer relishes all the state of Florida has to offer. Whether it is off to the panhandle to frolic in the surf at St. George Island or south for lobstering in the Keys, she is eager to go! An alumnus of the University of Florida cheerleading squad, Bess has also spent many an hour traversing the landscape of the Turnpike and I-75 as she drives back and forth to Florida Gator football games.

Using her knowledge of the Sunshine State, Bess started the Central Florida Top 5, a website that ranks upcoming events to assure her visitors the very best bets in categories such as family, fine arts, sporting, and fitness. Exploding in popularity, the “Top 5” blog was recently voted #1 Neighborhood Blog in the Orlando Sentinel Orbbie Competition. Loyal fans also follow Bess on Facebook and Twitter, where she is ranked the #22 Power Tweeter in Central Florida.

A champion of non-profits, Bess also promotes numerous charity events in Central Florida, often driving back and forth to chili cook offs, car shows, and celebrity galas to support the different philanthropies. She can often be seen with a Blackberry in one hand and a Flip video camera in the other, spreading the charity’s message throughout the Twitter and blogosphere.

An avid writer, Bess’s first novel was honored as a finalist in the 1998 International Hemingway Novel Competition. Her next novel, Confessions of a Gator Cheerleader, won rave reviews from the Orlando Sentinel and local publications. She also writes for other magazines, including Orlando Style Magazine and the Professional Sports Wives Magazine. For the time being, though, Bess is focused on her website and blog, where she can combine her love of writing with her passion for Central Florida and share that with her readers.
