I'm a multimedia journalist and educator with a passion for stories related social equality, immigration and education. My love for photojournalism began in high school when I took an old school black-and-white photography class using my great grandfather’s Pentax SP500.
I recently worked as a staff photographer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Previously, I was the online photo editor at the newspaper. While there I edited several multimedia projects and trained the staff in multimedia storytelling and editing. Reporting for Duty earned national recognition, including a regional Emmy award.
While in St. Louis, I also taught courses in multimedia production and photojournalism for Webster University. In the summer of 2009 and 2010 I lead National Geographic Student Expeditions to Bar Harbor and Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands.
A native of Carrington, North Dakota, I graduated with honors from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism.
