Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre National Bordeaux-Aquitaine these last 2 years, the french conductor Gabriel Drossart has worked with their Music Director Kwame Ryan, and such conductors as Sir Neville Marriner, Günther Herbig, Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Alexander Lazarev, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Christian Zacharias. Gabriel Drossart made the beginning of his career in the United States, earning the Graduate Performance Diploma in Conducting from the Peabody Conservatory under the guidance of Gustav Meier and Markand Thakar, selected by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to conduct a performance of Stravinskys LHistoire du Soldat featuring BSO principals, and worked as assistant with the Baltimore Opera, the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Juilliard Pre-College Chamber Orchestre and the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra.
He was born in France, where he began his musical studies and his training as a violinist. By the age of 16, he became the music director of his high school. In addition to attending Paris CNSM, Schola Cantorum and Versailles Conservatory, Mr. Drossart completed his masters degree in Musicology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne.
Gabriel Drossart has participated actively in workshops with Peter Eötvös, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Kurt Masur, Jorma Panula, Kenneth Kiesler, Daniel Lewis, Jun Märkl and Michael Morgan, Zsolt Nagy and conducted such orchestras as the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra in Praga, Vorpommern Philharmonisches Orchester, Germany, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Bucharest National University of Music Orchestra, Sofia Festival Orchestra in Siena, New Symphony Orchestra, Bulgaria and the Manhattan School of Music Orchestra in New York.
