Born in Poland, educated in Vienna, Austria and Los Angeles, USA ; Patryk Dawid Chlastawa was trained as a painter for four years, and started making his own films in 1999.
He received his 2005 master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria. His short film "17", made in the master class of Conceptual Art Studies, passed with distinction.
During his scholastic years, he formed a weekly midnight radio program called "Now It’s Dark," and made ten short films, several art projects and documentaries that screened at various European film festivals.
Since university graduation he has written film critiques for an Austrian culture newspaper, "Kulturwoche" & the American “Point” magazine. He worked as a co-writer and director’s assistant at the production company Black Box Film & Media.
On his new short film “CHATEAU BELVEDERE” Patryk collaborated with composer Marek Zembrowski (INLAND EMPIRE) and Special Effect Artist Vincent Gustini (Requiem for a Dream).
After completion of an MFA in Directing at the American Film Institute, Patryk formed the production company “Atma Films”. He now lives and works in Los Angeles.
