Balance is key. The handle is connected to the rod but can rotate freely all directions. The rod has camera in one end and weight in the other. Just slightly more weight at the bottom or it will wiggle. From 2-4 seconds it should go down to upright position.
Also remember the wider lens, the more steady the image is. -
