Tyler good stuff, i already flattened my profile by trial and error good to see i was in the right direction.
Ive noticed increased noise in video when highlight tone priority is turned on like you say but the worse thing is vertical banding when its on so i shoot with it off all the time now, tested on all the firmwares too.
have you noticed in the shadows?

cheers guys, dof was based on daniels designs, using vibrating GG holder, used a opteka macro that gives me less vignetting, pentax 50mm f1.7 vibrating screen needs to be tuned down as focus will be soft, .8V seems to be sweet spot.

footage graded and sharpened in post, no in camera sharpening.

Philip, your work is good, i thought i would comment here as only today i realised the 720p issue, i dont shoot 720 so the aliasing isnt really a problem so long as i shoot cleverly.

i bought the 7D after months and months of getting angry that i never had enough light, but since i have the 7d it did amaze me.... funnily enough I still really like my hv20+dof footage even though i have a 7d with good L glass. But the 7d is so flexible in low light,
7d - take it in a small bag, full of CF cards spare battery and a decent prime + a L zoom with IS you are laughing.
Hv20 + dof - big bag, rails, mattebox, monitor to focus, tripod...

next time i shoot I might operate the hv20+dof on steadycam and have the 7d round my neck!!

I just did a 720p test with a res chart... i see what you mean.. my mistake not shooting 720 much!!!
