Joe Picard is a intermedia artist working primarily with cinematography and photography.
He earned a degree in communications with concentrations in film production and photography. As he graduated he established himself in Boston, working as a photographer’s assistant, a film set photographer and as a cinematographer. He created independent short films, art exhibits, advertising and editorial photography.
A synchronistic series of events led him to Santa Fe New Mexico where on his arrival in 2002 he quickly entangled with the efforts of the emerging High Mayhem Studios. There after, as the moving image director, Picard collaborated on the development of the organization, the production of seven annual-three-day High Mayhem Festivals and over 75 High Mayhem events.
Picard has exhibited art work at the Obscura gallery, BANG!, 707 Contemporary, and at High Mayhem art shows.
In 2008 Picard relocated to San Francisco and joined Autofuss and Bot & Dolly as a Director of Photography. Autofuss and Bot & Dolly together are a commercial production studio which has repurposed industrial robotics to produce custom ultra precise motion control systems. Autofuss and Bot & Dolly are known for creative experiments, commercial arts, theatrical spectacles and hollywood special effects.
