Esther Baker-Tarpaga (CHOREOGRAPHER) is co-artistic director of Baker & Tarpaga Dance Project, which has recently performed at I Trotra Festival Madagascar, Jacobs Pillow Inside Out Festival, The Kelly Strayhorn Theater Pittsburgh, REDCAT Los Angeles, Action Danse Festival in Morocco, and Atelier Aex Corps in Senegal. She curates a digital oral history site Shifting Traces: Contemporary Dance and Technology In and Outside of Africa, featuring performance and interviews with African choreographers. An Assistant Professor of Dance at OSU, she received her MFA and MA in Dance at UCLA's Department of World Arts and Cultures and her BA at Bowdoin College. She is the recipient of a NY Live Arts Suitcase Fund, Battelle Endowment for Technology and Human Affairs Grant, OSU Office of Diversity and Inclusion Grant, a Javits Fellowship, and Coca-Cola Critical Difference for Women grant. She is co-director of a study abroad program for dance, music, and intercultural collaboration in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. She is currently touring evening length work "BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE" (Olivier Tarpaga, Dante Brown, D. Sabela Grimes, Abby Zbikowski) and is in collaboration with Moroccan choreographer Hind Benali on a new project titled "HER OTHER SIDE."
