Award winning filmmaker Kosuke Furukawa grew up in West Tokyo until his passion for film and photography compelled him westward to New York. After graduating from Tama Art University in Tokyo, Kosuke continued his studies in film production at CUNY Brooklyn College where he was drawn to the freer, dynamic creative environment of New York. Currently, Kosuke has written and directed eight short films including "Getap!" which premiered as an Official Selection at the Rhode Island International Film Festival.Kosuke was premiered another short "Uguisu" won the award of Best Short FIlm and Best Cinematography at International Film Festival Manhattan 2011'.
Though he is bringing a Japanese perspective to his work, it is the fusion of these two cultures and the struggle of living between them that Kosuke finds most interesting and inspiring.
