That was the Hoodman with 2x magnifyer. To judge exposure I try to shield the hood as much as possible and use the lower brightness setting on the LCD. Most of the time the auto exposure is good and once I'm ready to work, I switch the LCD brightness to bright.

Dell XPS 420 Quad core Q6600 2.4Ghz processor, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card with 256MB.

I get warnings about not enough graphics memory if I try to edit 1920x1080 so I have the cam set for 1440x1080 at 12Mbps.

As I edit each clip I let it render before trying anything else, but it's smooth that way and it works. I like these little cams and like the flash media workflow.

    Thanks for the comments

Bruce Foreman commented on Deer Watch

Hi, Martin. I ordered mine from B&H Photo in NY, I use a 37-52mm stepup ring, a 52mm UV filter and the Hama rectangular hood "clamps" over the outside diameter of the filter.

This 52mm size also works well with a 52mm threaded wide angle conversion lens although that has to have it's own hood.

I do remove the 52mm filter before attaching the wide angle conversion lens to prevent the conversion lens from vignetting within itself.

    Thanks for the comments.

Bruce Foreman commented on Using a gray card with the HF100

I'll have to try this, let's see...Where did I put those gray cards a couple of decades or more ago?

The more I use this HF100, the more I like it. I've been wanting to get away from tape and moving mechanisms for a long time.
