Jack, there in lays the difference in our thinking. I don't see that I have a 'right' to anything being free. It is a gift to me that hard working folks created a site where they give me these free gifts without [at the moment] the clutter of massive advertising columns. I think the things that are given freely are fantastic. I will be happy if the sites resources are less taxed and that the ability to spend time concentrating on building the growing video quality abilities of Vimeo is met by the very small yearly fee that goes to support its development. I do however respect your opinion.

There have been a few grumbles about this new policy. Why? I have for a very long time been wondering how the mentality that everything is free on the Internet came about. Sites have costs, in many cases very large costs. Premium features like large file storage SHOULD cost money. Come on, be supportive if you use it, pay for it. Basic without original file storage is a FANTASTIC service.
