Fantastic! Perhaps it'd be even better if the text is clipped from the right, so that you get 'Subd' instead of 'sions', and 'Line' instead of 'ines'.
In fact that's quite like how the number clipping also goes from right to left, obscuring the least important part first.

Also, it might be nice to remove the arrows when number fields become really squashed, and use that space more efficiently.
