Aimee Suzara is a Filipino-American playwright, poet and educator based in Oakland, CA. Her poetry has been published widely including two chapbooks and appearances in numerous journals and anthologies. Her debut book, SOUVENIR, will be forthcoming in February 2014. Her theater work has been awarded grants and commissions from the Zellerbach Foundation, East Bay Community Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts; she is a part of the PlayGround at Berkeley Rep Writer’s Pool, ATLAS for Playwrights (Theater Bay Area) and her current play, A HISTORY OF THE BODY, will is in progress towards a World Premiere. Suzara has performed her poetry nationally and teaches Creative Writing and Social Action at CA State University at Monterey Bay.
