Born and raised in Los Angeles, Lilly Scourtis Ayers received her BA degree in Classical Civilization from UCLA, where she also studied Film History/Theory. She began working in music video production on projects for artists such as Metallica and Tom Petty. Ayers received her MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University, School of the Arts, in New York City. While in school, she produced Rapunzel Goes to the Movies—a finalist in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmakers Contest. In January of 2003, she directed her first music video for Los Angeles band Rezurex called Devil Woman from Outer Space a low-budget, retro, science-fiction piece. In August of 2005, Lilly met Scott “The Lawyer” Ayers at a punk show—they were married six months later and are now parents to an amazing baby boy. Last Fast Ride – The Life, Love and Death of a Punk Goddess, a documentary film about under-ground punk singer Marian Anderson, is Lilly’s first feature film. She has recently finished a feature-length screenplay based on Marian’s life and has several other projects in development.
