Born in Bologna in 1972, Nicola Evangelisti graduated in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown.

Since 1995 he has developed an artistic multimedia research focused on scientific issues and characterized by the use of artificial light.

For almost twenty years he has worked internationally realizing several cycles of light sculptures to large installations and projections on an urban scale. In 2009 he created Light Blade, a site specific light installation in the portico of Villa Reale in Milan and then acquired by the GAM collection.

His work has been studied at Politecnico of Milan and has been the subject of graduation thesis and several publications including the catalogue “LIGHT ART – Targetti Light Art Collection”, published by Skira.

He has taken part in exhibitions in museums and in international galleries including the Chelsea Art Museum (New York, USA), the Centre for Contemporary Art “Ujazdowski Castle” (Warsaw, Russia), the MAK (Vienna, Austria), the MUAR (Moscow, Russia), the ISELP-Institut Supérieur pour l’Etude du Langage Plastique (Brussels, Belgium), the Archaeological Museum (Frankfurt, Germany), The International Museum and Library of Music (Bologna, Italy), the GAM (Milano, Italy), the MACRO (Roma, Italy), the Galerie Artiscope (Brussels, Belgium), the PaciArte Contemporary (Brescia, Italy).

He has participated in special projects of Brussels Biennial, Venice Biennale and Manifesta9.

BIOGRAFIA

Nato a Bologna nel 1972 si è diplomato in scultura presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti della sua città.

Dal 1995 ad oggi svolge una ricerca artistica multimediale incentrata su tematiche scientifiche e caratterizzata dall’uso della luce artificiale.

Da quasi vent’anni lavora a livello internazionale realizzando diversi cicli di sculture luminose fino a grandi installazioni e proiezioni a scala urbana. Nel 2009 realizza Light Blade, installazione luminosa nel porticato di Villa Reale a Milano entrata poi nella collezione della GAM.

Il suo lavoro è studiato al Politecnico di Milano ed è stato oggetto di tesi di laurea e di numerosissime pubblicazioni tra cui il catalogo LIGHT ART – Targetti Light Art Collection edito da Skira.

Ha partecipato a rassegne in musei e gallerie internazionali tra cui: Chelsea Art Museum New York, Centre for Contemporary Art “Ujazdowski Castle” Varsavia, MAK Vienna, MUAR Mosca, ISELP (Institut Supérieur pour l’Etude du Langage Plastique Bruxelles, Museo Archeologico Francoforte, Museo e biblioteca internazionale della Musica Bologna, GAM Milano, MACRO Roma, Galerie Artiscope Bruxelles, PaciArte contemporary Brescia.

Ha partecipato a progetti speciali della Biennale di Bruxelles, Biennale di Venezia e Manifesta9.
