An Interview by Me, Myself and I…
Q: Alex Igleheart… how many personalities do you have?
A: TOO MANY! I’m a little psychotic. I can be extremely high, and other times extremely miserable. I’m categorically carnal..., I’m stubborn, yet very engaged, I can be VERY apprehensive yet totally loud, but without a doubt, I’m extremely determined.
Q: What’s YOUR STYLE?
A: What’s my style…mmmm…Quirky and classic! I see my style as something that could stick around for some time so, yes, classic…. I’m quirky! I like weird things, my favorite director is Tim Burton, I love black and white stripes, dead things fascinate me and yet I love seeing everything as if I'm on some fantabulous acid trip! I am generally a very smiley person...So applying this to my designs, they come out a little twisted, mixing opposite silhouettes together, placing fabrics in uncommon places and matching colors and prints in odd combinations. I like that SHOCK FACTOR!!
Q: So then where would you say you get all this “twisted” inspiration from?
A: My inspiration comes from everything I’m surrounded by!! So cliché...WHAT CATCHES MY EYE??? That’s another question. If I could go back in a time machine to any decade I choose to be inspired with: It would be: San Francisco in the 20s, Paris in the 50s, London in the 60’s, Berlin in the 70’s, jet setting from New York to LA in the 80’s and where I am now, today. I love a little bit of rock in everything I do, but please don’t get me confused with that whole ROCK FASHION vibe, I think it has been WAY over played. I like a little bad girl in everything elegant and conservative. There is absolutely no need to be so serious all the time, to be so pretentious about life and to so religiously follow trends! So certain people inspire me…anywhere from the bum on the street to the high profiled corporate women running in her Louboutins to work.
Q: If you could invite 5 people, dead or alive, to dinner, who would they be?
A: There are so many I want to cook for!! Sigmund Freud, Jim Morrison, Mao Zedong, Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol and Ted Bundy (no pun intended)…
Q: Are you scared of death?
A: I’m not scared to die…. I’m scared of not making an impression on this planet BEFORE I die…and pain if there is any….
Q: Who is your mentor?
A: I admire a lot of people, but I don’t think I have only one that pushes my boundaries…my fiancé pushes my boundaries, he's a good motivator.
Q: Do you have any phobias?
A: French Fries and horror movies.
Q: What do you dislike?
Q: Music of choice?
A: If I could have an iPod over my head every minute of every day to change according to my mood, I’d be absolutely happy. I don’t know what music I like until I hear it.
Q: What’s your religion?
A: Dreams. I religiously listen to my dreams. I have a book next to my bed that I TRY and write down every thought I have when I enter into my REM. Sometimes they are simply reenactments of things I did during the day and sometimes they have a much deeper meaning. 90% of my inspiration comes from when I dream.
Q: What moment in life are you most proud of?
A: What I am doing RIGHT now! Whether I become as successful as I expect or not, I am taking a risk and chasing after what I want in life and I couldn’t be happier!
